One missing tooth, two fixed options. Should you leave neighbours untouched with an implant, or close the gap in 2 weeks with a bridge?
A gap can cause tilting, changes in bite, and bone resorption (often fastest in the first year). Cleaning becomes harder. Individual experiences vary.
What Is a Dental Implant?
Titanium fixture in jawbone, supports crown via abutment. Neighbouring teeth generally left untouched. In suitable cases, may help maintain bone.
At Misora, dental implants start from SGD 2,800 per implant, from SGD 850 after MediSave claims. The surgical portion is claimable up to SGD 1,120 per implant. Crown and abutment are not MediSave-claimable. Terms and conditions apply, subject to CPF Board approval. Based on CPF Board guidance updated 13 March 2026.
What Is a Dental Bridge?
Row of joined crowns. Teeth on either side are prepared, and the bridge is cemented with a false tooth in the middle. Completed in 2-3 appointments over 2 weeks; no surgery. Irreversible preparation of supporting teeth. Ridge under false tooth may resorb over time.
Market range: Implant SGD 3,000-6,000 (including crown), Bridge often lower upfront. These are general ranges, not Misora fees. Over time, a bridge may need replacement.

When to Consider Each
Consider Implant when:
- Adjacent teeth healthy and untouched
- Sufficient bone or open to grafting
- Prefer a long-term fixed option, maintain bone where suitable
- Eligible for MediSave claim on surgical portion
Consider Bridge when:
- Neighbouring teeth already need crowns / large fillings
- Bone severely deficient and prefer to avoid grafting
- Surgery not advisable medically
- Need gap closed within weeks

Checklist to Ask
- Are adjacent teeth healthy?
- Is bone sufficient, or is grafting needed? Cost/timeline?
- How soon do you need it closed?
- How long do you want it to last?
- MediSave: Surgical part of implant may be claimable (T&Cs apply). Bridge not claimable per CPF Board.
At Misora, implant cases are handled by Dr Kang Minsok, DDS (Columbia University, USA), with speciality training in Prosthodontics and ~30 years of experience in dentistry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is implant better than bridge?
Neither may suit every case. An implant may leave neighbouring teeth alone and may help maintain bone in suitable cases. A bridge may be faster and avoid surgery. Scan and assessment may help decide. Individual experiences vary.
How long does a bridge last compared to an implant?
A bridge may commonly last around 10-15 years before replacement in suitable cases, often due to decay under supporting crowns. An implant fixture may last 15 years or more in suitable cases, with the crown more likely to be replaced. Individual results vary.
Is bridge claimable under MediSave?
No. MediSave may apply to the surgical component of implant treatment under CPF Board limits (insertion: number × SGD 1,120), subject to eligibility, MediSave balance and prevailing CPF limits. Crowns, abutments and bridges are generally paid out of pocket.
