How to Use Medisave for Dental Implants in Singapore (2026 Guide)

Coordinator explaining MediSave coverage for dental implant surgery at a Singapore dental clinic

Confused about why MediSave covers part of your implant bill but not the whole tooth? Here’s exactly what is claimable and how much.

MediSave may help with the surgical part of implant treatment, not the crown. This guide explains what may be claimable, current limits, eligibility and process. MediSave is run by the CPF Board, not a clinic promotion or guaranteed entitlement.

Can You Use MediSave for Dental Implants?

Yes, for the surgical part in suitable cases. Placing a fixture is surgical, and selected dental surgery for medical reasons may be claimed, subject to CPF limits.

Under CPF Board guidance (updated 13 March 2026): Insertion: number x SGD 1,120 up to Table 2C. Removal: number x SGD 490 up to Table 1C. Example: 2 implants = up to SGD 2,240 for surgical portion, subject to eligibility.

At Misora: Implants from SGD 2,800 per implant; patients pay from SGD 850 after MediSave claim. T&Cs apply, subject to CPF Board approval, balance and annual limits. Crown and abutment not claimable.

Eligibility Checklist

  1. MediSave balance sufficient, or immediate family member (spouse, parents, children, grandparents, siblings) consents to use theirs
  2. Treatment clinically indicated with documented need
  3. Clinic MediSave-accredited, dentist approved to submit
  4. Annual withdrawal limit applies
  5. PRs with MediSave may claim; foreigners without CPF generally cannot
  6. Cosmetic only (veneers, whitening) not claimable

How Much Can You Claim?

Per-implant calculation. Insertion limit: SGD1,120 x number inserted. Removal: SGD490 x number removed. Actual amount depends on procedure code, balance, annual limit. For full arch 4 – 6 implants, per-implant limit applies to number inserted, but bridge on top remains out-of-pocket.

Process in 6 Steps

  1. Assessment + written quote separating claimable/non-claimable
  2. Sign MediSave authorisation form (family member signs if using theirs)
  3. Electronic balance check
  4. Surgery performed, code recorded
  5. Clinic submits claim to CPF Board after procedure
  6. CPF deduction statement, clinic bills balance

What Is Covered vs Not?

Claimable: Implant insertion (up to SGD1,120 per implant), removal (upto SGD 490) bone graft/sinus lift when clinically indicated as part of surgery (sometimes)

Not claimable: Custom abutment, crown, consultation, routine X-rays, scaling, whitening, veneers

Cost After MediSave

Market range single tooth:
SGD 3,000 – SGD 6,000 including fixture + abutment + crown. Less MediSave up to SGD 1,120 per implant for surgical line only, subject to eligibility.

At Misora: From SGD 2,800 / implant, from SGD 850 after MediSave. T&Cs apply. Individual costs vary.

Choosing a Clinic

Ask: Is 3D imaging used where indicated? Written plan separating costs? Clinic submits claim? Custom or stock abutment? Reviews included?

At Misora, implant treatment is provided by Dr Kang Minsok, DDS (Columbia University, USA), with speciality training in Prosthodontics and ~30 years of experience in dentistry.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much MediSave can I use for a dental implant?

Under CPF Board guidance (updated 13 March 2026), the limit is the number of implants multiplied by SGD 1,120 for insertion and by SGD 490 for removal. The actual amount depends on the procedure performed, your available MediSave balance and prevailing CPF withdrawal limits. The crown and abutment are not claimable.

Yes, with their consent. Immediate family covers spouse, parents, children, grandparents and siblings. They sign the authorization form and provide their NRIC details at the clinic.

No. The clinic submits the claim to the CPF Board after the procedure. You sign the authorisation form beforehand and receive a statement once the deduction is made.

No. The crown and the abutment are restorative items and are paid out of pocket, along with consultation and routine X-rays.

No. Bridges are not surgical procedures and are not claimable. This is one of the practical differences covered in Dental Implants vs Bridge.

The shortfall is paid in cash or by card. You can also use an immediate family member’s MediSave with their consent to cover part of it.

It can be when it is performed as part of the implant surgery and is clinically indicated. This is decided on the case, not on request.

Only if they hold a CPF MediSave account. Permanent Residents with MediSave can claim. Visitors and pass holders without CPF cannot.
